It's so important to follow the waste hierarchy and refuse, reduce, repair and reuse. However, when you're unable to do anything further with the item, recycling the correct items at home is one of the easiest things you can do to help reduce your carbon footprint.

Each year, recycling saves over 700 million tonnes in CO2 emissions. This is projected to increase to 1 billion tonnes by 2030 if we make sure to put things in the right bin. For example, placing uneaten, spoilt food and peelings and bones in the food caddy; and rinsing and recycling packaging and other items correctly ensure our waste gets recycled.
