Ahead of Halloween

  • Find Pumpkin festival events being run by Good Food Oxfordshire, which will be promoted via their Facebook page. These include pumpkin carving, and learning recipes for using up your whole pumpkin.
  • Swap, share and reuse your outfits, you can do this by wearing something you already own, having a successful charity shop haul, swapping outfits with friends or getting creative by upcycling clothing you already own to suit your Halloween character or theme.
  • Avoid scary single use waste which will be a one hit spook. If you love Halloween, find decorations which you will use year after year and are easy to store.

Food and edible goodies

  • Consider packaged free goodies for those spooky guests of yours, or find sweets wrapped in recyclable packaging for trick and treaters.
  • Carve, cook and eat your whole pumpkin and reduce food waste with pumpkin recipes from Replenish and Good Food Oxfordshire which include roasted stuffed pumpkin, crunchy pumpkin seeds, pumpkin soup and chocolate fudge!

After Halloween

  • Keep your decorations and costumes for next year
  • Donate costumes to charity in time for Halloween next year
  • Use up your leftovers, share them with friends or co-workers or make a leftovers recipe.
  • Use the Waste Wizard search tool to search for an item you no longer need and find out what you can do with it in order of the waste hierarchy, from reuse to recycling.
